What is ALTA?

The Alta Program is a transformative 20-week journey designed to push your limits, both physically and mentally.

Whether you're a beginner or experienced in martial arts, this program equips you with the skills and confidence to step into the cage for an amateur MMA bout.

Who is it for?

Absolutely anyone who is looking to challenge themselves and do something extraordinary.

It doesn't matter if you have never stepped foot in a gym or thrown a punch before. If you have the mindset and determination, you will see growth in your abilities through out the program. You will do things you didn't think you could.

What to expect

City Kickboxing is the only gym in Auckland to offer training 5 days a week. Classes are run first thing in the morning. From day 1 you will start to learn the sport of MMA, so come prepared to work. This course is run with the same approach as any fight event, from amature to UFC, and with the programme being lead by Eugene Bareman, you are learning from one of the top coaches in the industry .

Throughout the programme you will learn the fundamentals, which include

  • Jiu Jitsu
  • Grappling
  • Striking and defence
  • Cardio and endurance
  • Sparring

At the 10 week mark, as you enter "Fight Camp", the gym's regular timetable will be opened to you, to join classes in the afternoon and evening. We recommend you try these out as you will be able to build on the skills you learn in morning training.

Classes include:

  • BJJ
  • Kick Boxing
  • Boxing
  • Wrestling
  • Endurance and Circut training

You CAN NOT join the sparring classes.

On fight week the classes change from morning to evening, and the intensity of training is less. This is to prepare your mind and body for your fight night, and is the same process for a novice fighter as it is for a professional.

The week of the fights, the last evening class is the weigh in, as is done before every fight event. You will be called up along with your opponent, to step on the scales and then have your face off photo. It's a fun evening and you are welcome to have your friends and family come along and join for the evening at the gym.

Fight Night!

At the end of the 20 weeks, you will be stepping into the cage to have an MMA fight. The Alta fight nights are a highlight in the CKB calendar, and they get the same treatment as all fighting events. The venue is booked, catering ordered, tables set and walk out tracks are loaded. Fight dates will be given at the start of the programme, and tickets will be available from about week 12. Your family and friends can book a table and enjoy drinks and dinner, or sit up in GA. All you need to do is bring your best attitude, courage and determination.

Join Auckland's largest Alta programme

There are 2 seasons of Alta each year, the first runs from February - July, and the second is July - December. Seasons will be available to sign-up to, a few weeks before they start. Keep an eye on our socials and the site for when they open.

People who have done Alta before and want to have another go, you can jump in at 10 weeks, joining the fight camp. Come chat to us.
