Inspiring – Not intimidating!
Late 2007 I started training at City Kickboxing with Doug Viney, after a recommendation from Jackie Mills.
I wanted to learn more about Kickboxing from someone that loved the sport, the best of course! Yet also someone that knew how to relate to people, real people of all walks of life.
He makes the very complex sport of kickboxing relatable and made my sessions so much fun that I would absolutely mark them in my diary as one not to miss, for ANY reason.
Because of this my fitness went to a level I didn’t know I had in me. He knew of course, and through the powers of persuasion, managed to get me to a level I am really proud of.
He doesn’t stand alone at City Kickboxing Gym though, because he surrounds himself with like minded coaches, which makes the gym more than a gym to many.
It’s a place to go and escape work life and stresses. People that train there, get more than kickboxing and excellent fitness results. They get support from these coaches, they get a community of people all coming together with a passion for punch and kick, and their six pack abs come from laughing so much at Doug’s wicked sense of humour.
It’s not intimidating as you could expect from such a place – it’s inspiring on multiple levels.
